DESTRUCTIVE TESTING

• Engineers, technicians, and other professionals involved in the design, development, and testing of products or structures
• Anyone wishing to learn about, and how to manipulate, the crystal structure of metals
• Anyone seeking to prepare for the AWS Certified Welding Inspector exam
  • This student body may encompass many positions, including:
    • Welders
    • Welding engineers
    • Welding inspectors
    • Welding supervisors

No previous knowledge is required. This course presents DT concepts in clear, easy-to-understand language and easily digestible chunks of information. We will start at the beginning, explain every term and topic, and provide practice questions to ensure learners understand the material. However, students with no welding background whatsoever may benefit from gaining a general understanding of basic welding processes and welding terminology. This prerequisite knowledge can be obtained by:

• Taking the AWS Welding Fundamentals I online course
• Obtaining and reading a copy of AWS A3.0 Standard Terms and Definitions

• Understand the principles of destructive testing in welding.
• Learn the different types of destructive testing techniques and their applications.
• Learn how to perform destructive testing in accordance with industry standards and guidelines.
• Understand the safety precautions and equipment needed for destructive testing.
• Learn how to interpret and evaluate destructive testing results.

Upon completion of Destructive Testing, students will be able to:

• Demonstrate an understanding of the various destructive testing methods used in welding, including bend tests, tensile tests, and impact tests
• Identify the strengths and weaknesses of different testing methods and select the appropriate method for a given situation
• Demonstrate an understanding of welding codes and standards related to destructive testing
• Conduct destructive tests in a safe and controlled manner, including proper sample preparation, testing procedures, and documentation
• Analyze and interpret test results and communicate findings effectively
• Apply knowledge of destructive testing to improve welding processes and weld quality
