This comprehensive training equips you with advanced teaching strategies, practical skills, and curriculum development tools across multiple welding processes including SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW.

Teaching welding isn’t just about skills—it’s about inspiring the next generation of welders. AWS’s Train the Trainer 2026 workshops provide welding instructors with the tools, techniques, and confidence to deliver effective, consistent, and engaging welding instruction.
This training provides welding educators with structured teaching methodologies and hands-on experience in both classroom and shop settings. Participants will connect with educators from SENSE schools, EIMs, and post-secondary programs while strengthening their professional credibility through AWS and KWI recognition. PPE and equipment are provided; attendees should wear jeans, welding boots, and long-sleeved cotton shirts.
Through a balanced mix of classroom instruction and hands-on shop experience, you’ll learn how to:

The training will be offered in four in-person sessions held at different locations throughout the year. Each session will take place over a five-day period. The scheduled sessions are May 11–15 in San Diego, CA; June 15–19 in Baytown, TX; July 6–10 in Flemingsburg, KY; and December 7–11 in Flemingsburg, KY.
Includes: Continental breakfast, lunch, PPE
Dress Code: Jeans, welding boots, and a long-sleeved cotton shirt

Robert Curtis Pease is a seasoned welding educator and Director of Education at Kentucky Welding Institute, where he has spent over 20 years equipping students with industry-recognized certifications and hands-on skills. A U.S. Army National Guard veteran and AWS Certified Welding Educator, Robert has championed the integration of the AWS SENSE Level I program and continues to lead innovative efforts in welding education and workforce readiness.
Ashley Applegate is an AWS CWI, CWE, and CW with over 30 years of welding experience—from running his own company to currently serving as Director of Training / Industry Liaison for Kentucky Welding Institute.
