Computer Based Testing: Test Drive
Preparing for CBT Exams
Preparing for CBT Exams
AWS recognizes that the certification exam process can be stressful. AWS also understands that certification applicants come with a wide range of technology experiences. As the industry transitions away from traditional pencil-and-paper exams and toward computer-based testing, it is important that all candidates are provided with the tools necessary to help them confidently navigate what may be unfamiliar testing modalities. Whatever a candidate's experience of technology, AWS encourages all candidates to become familiar with the computer functionality and testing environment they will encounter when attempting AWS Certification Exams at Prometric.
Online Test Drive
AWS has partnered with Prometric to create a custom, online "Test Drive" experience for certification exam candidates. The purpose of this free tool is to introduce future test-takers to the computer screens and electronic tools that that will appear on Test Day. Each element of the Prometric testing screen is described and explained. Test-taking tools (e.g., welding-industry codes and standards in PDF format, on-screen calculators, clocks and timers, etc.) are introduced in detail, and users will have the opportunity to practice employing the tools to answer welding-related, test-like, multiple-choice questions.
In-Center Test Drive
Exam candidates who would value a more comprehensive Test Drive experience prior to the day of their exam may contact Prometric to schedule an in-person Test Drive at their local Prometric Testing Center. This in-center Test Drive experience will involve additional aspects of the testing process, such as the Prometric Center check-in, security screening, and assignment to a computer station in the testing room. Note that Prometric charges a nominal fee for this service.
